Why can an evolutionary tree be rotated without changing its meaning?
Two evolutionary-tree drawings can look different while showing the same relationships. Rotating branches around a node changes their position on the page, not which organisms share an ancestor. Reading across the tips as a ladder from primitive to advanced adds a ranking the tree does not provide.
